New Year’s Concert “The Sun Melts the Clouds” Monday, December 11, 6:30 PM Grande Societé, Theaterplatz 7, Bern
This moving event was organized by the Bern Committee of the Dante Alighieri Society at the initiative of Ars Pace as part of the Peace Deal Forum, with the patronage of the Italian Embassy in Bern. It opened with a performance of Ceccomori’s Hymn to Peace and continued with remarks by Ars Pace President Enrique Barón Crespo, Ars Pace Vice President Monica Baldi, Bern Committee President Anna Ruedeberg, and authoritative Italian-Swiss personalities. In spreading a message of universal harmony, Ars Pace paid tribute to the transcendental power of music with renowned musicians Andrea Ceccomori on flute and Sebastiano Brusco on piano, accompanied by the Suono Sacro Assisi Suonosfera String Quartet, composed of Sayako Obori, Terukazu Komatsu, Michele Tremamunno, and Minna Pehkonen. The performances included Ennio Morricone’s “New Cinema Paradiso”; Frédéric Chopin’s “Nocturne,” Op. 27, No. 2; Franz Schubert’s “Improvviso,” Op. 90, No. 3; Frédéric Chopin’s “Ballade,” Op. 3, No. 4; and, concluding, Ceccomori’s “Canticle of the Creatures.”
